SHORT BIO
A three-piece slacker punk band driven by bass and fuzzy guitar, crafting anxious thoughts on mundane jobs and the ever modernisation of social interaction into lofi-pop melodies that are paradoxically laid back and highly strung.
Structured around a solid frame of tight bass and pounding drums, the fuzz drenched guitar is free to drip in and out as it pleases, stabbing or sprawling, often building to a crescendo in the choruses.
This is a dynamic that emulates the highs and lows of life. The hungover morning followed by the panic attack.
“I wish I’d find more tracks like this in my inbox on a Monday, on any day in fact…. It’s simply a delight to hear a track that’s everything a punk single should be. It’s short, catchy and infectious. There’s a great guitar and bass hook, nice and simple.” - Matt Jefferson

THE SERIAL CHILLER STORY
Originally a two piece, Serial Chiller (Spud - Guitar, Vocals and Liam - Drums) was conceived in 2016 in their last year of school. The duo moved to the nearby city of Hull to study at university and made their live debut in the thriving music scene there with regular gigs at The Adelphi and The Sesh / Polar Bear among other local spots.
2 became 3 when Ed, who had also moved to Hull to study at the uni, became close friends with the band and was peer pressured into picking back up his childhood instrument - bass and joining the band.
Although Serial Chiller already had a few singles out by this time (Life’s Rough, Fuck Right Off, Seven Quid, Bed Mood), the new addition brought a fuller, more complete sound to their music and their next step was to visit Remko Schouten at his studio in Amsterdam to record a 4 track EP - When It’s Party Time.
The band were on an upward trajectory, however days after the EP was released in March 2020 the world changed and live music ground to a halt. Not wanting the global pandemic to trigger the end of Serial Chiller, the band instead used their newfound spare time to work on something bigger, a debut album.
With a large back catalogue of unreleased music, the band were able to hand pick and refine a shortlist of material that not only had single credentials but also flowed as a cohesive body of work. There was only one track that fit the bill to title the album - Don’t Buy It.
Serial Chiller began recording the album in 2022 with the aim of recording, producing, mixing and releasing the album by themselves. However, on reflection, they decided that what they had produced did not truly reflect the raw, organic energy of a Serial Chiller performance.
In 2023 Spud, Liam and Ed called upon their friends Life to book their studio located in a converted industrial space in Hull. With Stew Baxter as producer and recording engineer the 15 track album was recoded in 5 days, focussing on capturing an authentic experience of what live punk music feels like.
With an album almost ready to release, the band set out across Middle England to play at as many small, independent venues as possible, sharing their music with the grassroots music scenes of Hull, Lincoln, Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Yorkshire, Manchester, to name a few. It’s during this time that Serial Chiller transformed from a local punk band into a serious music group.
After a run of 6 singles that caught the attention of radio stations such as BBC R6, BBC York & Humberside, Amazing Radio (UK and US), Pinguin Radio (NL) plus many local radio stations and Spotify playlist curators across the UK and US, Serial Chiller’s debut album Don’t Buy It was released in November 2024 on all streaming platforms, CD and 12” Vinyl.
Don’t Buy It is the bands proudest achievement yet and it marks a turning point in their progression as they look to take their music to a wider audience expanding on their experiences in the grassroots independent music scenes.
